Hello there again my fellow sea changers. Today we continue our journey into the world of ‘get paid to’ apps with a look at an extremely popular one called Solitaire Real. This is one that caught my attention as it was frequently advertised in one of the many, many ads I have watched trying to make money with Fish Blast (which you can’t). The things that caught my attention were their claims as follows:

• Earn $80 a day
• Earn $300 a month
• Play game for just 3 minutes each day

Sounds pretty straight forward, so can you make money with Solitaire Real? Let’s check it out…

Before we begin, my experience with most of these games is that they ‘credit’ you with a good amount of cash as you get started until you start to get near the payout threshold – oh yes, there is always a payout threshold. From there you generally earn very little and watch a LOT of advertising – usually for other games of the same ilk. Hence, my concern as always (apart from the fact that I do sometimes wonder what they are doing with my phone data behind the scenes but let’s just leave that for now) is the time it takes to make the cash and whether you would be better off spending this time elsewhere. So, for this review, I will:

• Download the app
• Play for ‘just 3 minutes’
• Collect my $80 and be on my way… Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

What is Solitaire Real

Solitaire Real is a “get paid to” app that pays you to download and play, as the name suggests, Solitaire. To be honest, I really can’t elaborate on it much more than that. Once you download the game, you play solitaire and earn cash rewards for successfully completing each hand.

Once you reach a $20 threshold, you can cash out.

My experience

I downloaded Solitaire Real and then played 5 levels of the game on advanced level – I like to think I know solitaire pretty well – you can choose the beginner option too which actually ended up taking me about 30 minutes (hey.. Solitaire is fun).

Now I do usually like to play these games longer than this just to see where the money stops flowing and how close to the threshold I get but in this case I just wanted my $80 every 3 minutes. I guess it must be in the mail…

Anyway, let’s run through the 5 levels so you can make the decision as to whether you want to test further:

Level 1 – Almost complete game

• Time to play – 10 seconds
• Award: $5
• Ads to watch – 0

Level 2 – Almost complete game

• Time to play – 10 seconds
• Award: 4000 diamonds
• Ads to watch – 0

Level 3 – Half complete game

• Time to play – 2 minutes 40 seconds
• Award: $0.31
• Ads to watch – 1 – you have to watch an ad to collect your 31 cents

Level 4 – new game

• Time to play – 3 minutes 44 seconds
• Award: $0.27
• Ads to watch – 1

Level 5 – New game

• Time to play – 4 minutes 50 seconds
• Award: $0.28
• Ads to watch – 2 (not sure how the second one snuck in but it did)

Raffles

Money can also be earned from entering raffles with a $1 prize – entry is granted as a prize in game or via watching 1 ad per entry.

What were my outcomes?

Let’s be short and sweet here – At the end of this 30 minutes I had accumulated:

• Cash: $5.86
• Diamonds: 4000

Total time spent ‘working’ on my game: 30 minutes – includes game time and watching ads.

Can you make money with Solitaire Real?

I earned $5.86 for 30 minute’s work which was $14.14 short of making my first $20. So let’s assume that if I kept playing in the same fashion as above (and that I continue to make roughly 30 cents a game – which we all know I won’t) then at roughly 5 minutes per game it would take me roughly 4 hours of play to make my first $20. Now that is being extremely conservative as we know that the .30c payment amount is going to drop. So at 4.5 hours for $20 I am going to have to play for another 67.5 hours to make $300 ($4 per hour).

Look, my guess (and I like to think that it is an educated one) is that after a short while, you are going to start earning .10c then .05c per game then even less meaning that even at .05c per game, you will have to play for around 30 hours to get your $20. So, in terms of making ‘good’ money then at roughly $1.50 an hour, I would have to say that the question for you is whether you think that is a worthwhile return for your time…

Do I recommend it?

Let’s answer this by revisiting my original questions above based on their advertising:

• Earn $80 a day – probably not – unless you played for 24 hours straight
• Earn $300 a month – Got a spare 450 hours (or more)?
• Play game for just 3 minutes – not a chance – 1 game takes longer than that

Look, I have to say that it looks to me that things in this area of online money making capers are as I have always found them to be – that you will need to put in some decent hours to get a not-so-decent return on your time. Although you are playing games so it could be a good extra earner whilst you sit on the bus on the way to work for example. I tend to avoid using the term ‘scam’ with these products as they are providing access to a game that you can play for free however it is definitely not something that is going to make you make some decent money anytime soon.

If I am being honest I would suggest that you look into some other ways to earn an income online that can make you far more money for the same amount of work.
