Hey there sea changers, and welcome back to my series of affiliate program reviews for those of you looking to build an online business with Affiliate Marketing. Today I am going to look at a program that has taken the online world by storm in the past decade with my ClickFunnels affiliate program review. With its philosophy centred around the provision of incentives and value, is the ClickFunnels affiliate program worth looking onto? Let's check it out and see…
Disclosure: I am a member of the ClickFunnels Affiliate Program and hence make commissions from any of the links included within this post.
What is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is the process in which you, as a marketer, refer customers to websites where they can purchase products based on your recommendations. The website that takes the sale then pays you a commission for the referral sale. These referrals can be done in a number of ways including:
- Website links
- YouTube
- Podcasts
- Social media campaigns
The process follows a relatively simple road map in that a company will set up an affiliate program that marketers can join and then refer traffic to them via customised links, banners or product feeds. In short, this means that you will write about products that suit your niche and then refer your readers to a link where they will purchase directly from the vendors. The vendors then pay you a commission for the sale.
As you identify programs that you may wish to add to your affiliate programs, ensure that they:
- Relate to your niche/problems that you are solving.
- Have quality products – your brand can be severely damaged if you promote poor quality or unsafe products.
- Have solid payment and customer service arrangements.
- Pay decent commissions.
- Have good testimonials covering commission payouts and quality of product.
- Whether they have high ticket items you can promote on the side.
In most cases, you will need to apply for the program before you are allowed to promote their products – don’t take this step lightly or you will be rejected. Affiliate programs will generally want to know:
- Your website name.
- Traffic levels.
- Why you want to join – (“so I can make money by selling your widgets” is unfortunately not generally a good enough answer).
- How you plan to promote their products.
What are sales funnels?
Sales funnels are a tool used to assist visitors to a sales based website by guiding through a series of information and ‘offer' pages that lead them to a purchase. Often described as a process of “turning browsers into buyers“, funnels are designed to generate sales as follows:
- Attract a lot of visitors to the sales page – usually via some sort of ‘click bait' attractant – often called the awareness stage.
- Provide an overview of the product to maintain the readers interest – a smaller number of readers will be interested enough to click to the next sales page there they are given the full sales pitch for the product/service on offer – The interest stage.
- The final sales push – usually with a “what's in it for me” outline – a smaller number again will then make the purchase of the product – The decision stage.
- Those who are interested in the product will then purchase – action stage.

To be honest, even this list doesn't really do them justice as to what they offer and sell – we will discuss some more of this below. The platform is free to join on a 14-day trial with memberships available after that time frame as follows:
What can affiliates sell?
I mentioned earlier that many of the avenues that ClickFunnels undertake in order to attract members to its platform revolve around what they call ‘add value' offers and incentives. For affiliates, this opens a massive range of opportunities as not only can they sell access to the platform, but also to numerous products such as books, training products, software addons (pre made funnels etc.) and high ticket conferences. Below is an outline of the options that are available:

- Solid well-known platform.
- Industry leader in sales and promotional strategies.
- Plenty of pre-created incentives to assist with sales.
- Recurring commissions
What is no so good about it?
There are also some things to be aware of including:
- Long cooling-off periods.
- New affiliates must promote via incentives – i.e. cannot link directly to 14-day trial.
- The product itself is quite expensive.
How much can you make?
There is no cap on commissions.
My final thoughts
Look, affiliate marketing is not a get rich quick operation meaning any program that you join is going to require hard work and dedication to make it a success. This program however I believe is one of the better ones in what is a highly competitive niche. The product is sound and if the internal bootcamp training is followed, there are a lot of people making good money with this program.
