Hey there fellow sea changers and welcome to my Free Internet Marketing Project (FIMP) Review. FIMP is an online affiliate marketing training platform that sells itself as a being totally free to access. Unfortunately for us, and probably FIMP, whenever we see the words “free” we will ask “why? – is it not any good?”
Now, I am a believer in the fact that you can never have too much training and that everybody has a little chunk of affiliate marketing gold that can hep you on your way. So with that in mind, I have had a look, a play and read some reviews in an effort to find out if FIMP really is any good. Today I will cover:
- What it is
- How it works
- Pros and Cons
- My thoughts and recommendations
Is it any good? – yes, yes it is… Please read on to see what I think…
What is it?
FIMP is an online training platform that is designed to assist you in creating an online affiliate marketing business from scratch. With the free access arrangement, you get access to 9 modules each containing approximately 3 hours worth of training.
Each module contains videos, extra documentation and transcripts running you step by step through each required process. As you run through each module, you are able to ask question of Ian (the developer of this site) and interact with others.
The whole process is designed as a ‘run at your own pace' scenario where you can watch the videos, ask questions and go off and set up your own site. Free users also get access to a private FaceBook group and a fantastic ad-hoc supplemental training library as well.
Upsells and Bonus Training
This is probably the only controversial aspect of this site – and one that is sometimes savaged in reviews – in that even though it says 100% free, there are some upsells and bonus training once some money is spent (I will outline my own thoughts on this below).
If you select the “Advanced and Ad-Free training option” from the menu, you are taken to a sales funnel that give you access to further training as per below:
There is also bonus training and privileges if you sign up to some affiliate links located within the site in regards to website hosting and domain purchase.
At a glance
Product Name: Free Internet Marketing Project (FIMP)
Founder: Ian Pribyl
Product Type: Affiliate Marketing Training Platform
Price: 9 Modules free – Upsell $997 for an extra 11 modules
Best For: Anybody who wants to start their own affiliate marketing or online business
Recommended: This is quite a good training site. Ian provides good-humoured training and doesn't hide the realities of the business and how much work is involved. I recommend it as some great supplemental training for any new marketer.
- Great quality, content rich video training.
- Access to the founder and instructor – who gives great credible training.
- Great coverage of topics in free options.
- Fantastic supplementary training covering some weird and wonderful topics.
- Site is a bit jumpy – I ended up back at the log in page numerous times.
- Sales funnel is incredibly long – I found it a bit annoying if I am being honest.
How much is it?
Base training – 9 modules (15hrs) – FREE
Advanced training – 11 modules – $997
You know what? I like it. The training modules are light and easy to follow and Ian does a great job in keeping the videos personable and interesting. The modules are well set out and I like that Ian doesn't sugar coat the work that is required. I have learnt some stuff as well which is always handy. I feel that as it grows, this site can become one of the great ones in the world of affiliate marketing training.
Is it really free?
I have added this section as I read in a few reviews as part of my research some apparent annoyance that the whole site is not actually free even though it gives the impression on the landing pages that it is (as above). You get 9 modules free and pay for the next 11.
Personally, I can see where the annoyance may come from but at the end of the day, i really don't have a problem with it. You certainly get enough value for free so I don't recommend making it a reason to not join in. That said, there are a couple of topics in the paid section such as Google Analytics and Social Media that could certainly be included within the free area as they are important elements to success.
Incentives for Affiliate Links
The bonus training for clicking on Affiliate links concept however does intrigue me. I am sure Ian has done his checks but I do know that many affiliate programs outlaw the practice of offering incentives to click on their links. I am not really having a go at Ian here rather just highlighting for your own benefit to do some checks before offering this type of deal.
Do I recommend it?
As a training platform, I think it is really good and absolutely recommend it to any new affiliate marketer who wants to know a little more about the business and maybe start their own business. You could certainly do a lot worse than watch Ian's videos, take some notes and see if it could work for you.
How does it compare to my #1 Recommendation?
