Hello there fellow sea changers and welcome to my latest review where the question I ask is – Is Udemy is worth it in terms of learning about affiliate marketing. Udemy is an online learning and teaching marketplace containing over 100,000 online courses, many of them to do with affiliate marketing and earning money online. In this review, I will run through what Udemy is, how it works and what it can do for you in terms of providing further assistance into your affiliate marketing journey.
I will be honest in my appraisal of this platform, and will provide a clear outline as to its benefits, pros and cons. I will also compare it to my number 1 recommendation for affiliate marketing training which is Wealthy Affiliate. That said, I will also outline the reasons for the fact that although I do not recommend this platform to new affiliate marketers unless you have some knowledge in regards to building and growing website, I do actually see some value in taking the time to see what this platform has to offer. Read on to see my answers to the question – Is Udemy worth it?
Why this review?
Those of you familiar with my site might be wondering why I am bothering to review a training platform when I am obviously an avid user and promoter of Wealthy Affiliate. The answer is simple – it is because I am a firm believer in the fact that you can never have too much training and no platform can completely cover everything. At the end of the day, the main purpose of this site is to assist you in achieving your online goals so any program that can assist, I will make sure there is information here about it.
What is Udemy?
Udemy is an online training marketplace – meaning that freelance training developers can create and publish content for users to purchase and use. There are over 100,000 online courses containing multiple video lectures, online Q&A and some downloadable written content. Each course is purchased separately and is available permanently i.e. no need to repurchase after a certain time frame. Categories of courses available include (with some examples – there are plenty of others):
- Development – software, websites, apps.
- Business – strategy, finance, management
- IT and Software – hardware, software platforms
- Office Productivity – software
- Personal Development – productivity, self-esteem, leadership
- Design – web design, graphic design, clothing design
- Marketing – social media, strategic marketing, affiliate marketing
- Lifestyle – pets, sport, travel, arts and crafts
- Photography – types of photography, digital, film
- Health and Fitness – nutrition, general sports, yoga

- Teaching and Academic – maths, science, language
Affiliate marketing training
As you can see above, there are a plenty of areas to choose from however keeping in line with the purpose of this site as a demonstration, I have chosen the affiliate marketing stream of training. The following is an example of some of the affiliate marketing courses that are available:

Once you have found your area of interest, you then have the option to scroll through the courses that interest you. As you select each course, you will then be shown an outline, content and can view some preview videos.

I purchased a module to check it out.
So, in the interests of providing a valid review, I purchased a module:

This is a basic Affiliate marketing course and does appear to cover the basics of affiliate marketing quite well. There are 13 2 to 5 minute videos that run through the steps and explanations of:
- Niche selection
- Keywords
- Affiliate programs
- Website setup and hosting
- Website content development
- SEO/Traffic
The videos are clear and concise and easy to listen to and I also have access to Q&A and the ability to bookmark sections.
Note: The outline above is for the course I purchased only, other courses will contain different and varied content dependent upon the developer.

You too can start your very own online business here that can make you money from anywhere in the world!!
How much is it?
Course are paid for as a per-use basis with prices ranging from $10 – $25. This appears, from my review research, to be one of those sites that is always on special/sale so I am not sure that you would ever pay the full price that they have crossed out during their ‘sale’ period.
There are however also some Team and Enterprise membership deals as follows:

FAQ
Are Udemy courses legitimate?
Absolutely – Udemy is an online training marketplace with over 100,000 online courses containing multiple video lectures, online Q&A and some downloadable written content. Each course is purchased separately and is available permanently. Courses are inexpensive and created by experienced instructors.
Do I recommend it?
You know what? If you are someone who has a little knowledge about website design and blog post writing then this training is probably enough to get you started in the affiliate marketing space. If you are a completely new however, from what I have seen this program will give you base knowledge but no real assistance in getting your website fully created. There is also no real instruction into the time and work it takes to be successful in affiliate marketing.
That said, there are some purposes however that I could certainly see this site assisting with including:
- Assistance with finding content to write about in your own posts – especially if you are in the hobby or software niches
- Extra tuition on those areas that you write about – there may be something you can learn in there quickly without the need to pay for an expensive course
At the end of the day, and for the reasons outlined above, I would probably not recommend this program for those new in the affiliate marketing space.
What do I recommend?

Note: If you make a purchase from this page, there is a very good chance that I make a commission from it – these commissions do not increase your sale price.
From what you’ve said, it’s actuallu a really affordable platform to expand your knowledge a little more. Though, the not having “support” throughout your purchase or courses can be tricky. What if you don’t understand something or need help with something else? What are you supposed to do, search for it on Google?
Hey Stephanie,
It is an unfortunate downside of the platform – if you don’t understand the training there is a feedback function at the bottom but it depends on the person uploading the training as to whether they respond. From what I have seen, some do – I would suggest looking at the bottom first to see if there is responses prior to purchase.

Hi! I have been wanting to join Udemy for some time. But it’s always nice to research about it first. Concerning learning about Affiliate Marketing, it’s better to join Wealthy Affiliate. But I perceive Udemy has a lot of potential teaching us many other subjects. It would be nice to give both, Wealthy Affiliate and Udemy a try! Thanks for this review.
Yeah, I found some great stuff on there – it might also be good to help with niche research.

I have started to research about affiliate marketing and was attracted to Udemy to learn a bit about it. I know they’re a reputable platform. But it’s nice to know that concerning specifically learning about affiliate marketing, that Wealthy Affiliate is better. I’ll give it a try! Thank you very much!
Wealthy Affiliate defintiely has more functionality and deeper training but there is some good weird stuff on Udemy as well.
Thanks for stopping by
