Hey there sea changers, and welcome back to my series of MLM reviews for those of you looking to supplement your sea change income with a little Multi Level Marketing (MLM) goodness. Today we delve into the health and wellness market with my Le Vel Thrive MLM Review. The health and wellness industry – especially those based around supplements – is gathering momentum within the online business world due to the fact that people can purchase their products quickly and easily without the need to ‘touch and feel' them beforehand. I have discussed this area in the past via an affiliate marketing approach and this is one brand that kept popping up during my research then so I thought I would check it out…

What is MLM?

Multi-level marketing (MLM) programs are the mainstay of the ‘party plan' world of products such as Tupperware, Mary Kay and Amway etc. and, recently, becoming more and more prevalent within the supplements market. One of the reasons for this is that much of the sales and marketing for MLMs is now being managed online – alleviating the need to run parties – and, more importantly, not hassle everybody you know to join (you can of course, but you don't have to).

The ‘multi level' aspects of MLM come from its hierarchical nature in which you make commissions based not only on those that you sell to, but also the sales of those whom you ‘sign' into membership arrangements as well.

In short, the process works as follows:

  1. You join the program, either via referral from another person (known as your up line) or directly through their website.
  2. You promote the products of the company via parties, workshops or online.
  3. As you make sales, you offer incentives to your customers to sign up as a member of the program (there are different names for this but they all mean the same thing).
  4. That new member is then placed ‘underneath' you in a hierarchical arrangement (known as your down line).
  5. You, and a number of levels of your up line, then gain extra commissions for everything they sell as well.
  6. If they manage to refer their customers into memberships, they also become a member of your down line allowing you to make up line commissions as well.

The number of levels of your up and down lines will vary depending on the program you have joined. Commission rates will also change as your down line grows or contracts and many will also offer other incentives such as total company sales percentages and/or access to membership prizes as your own business grows.

Who are Le-Vel?

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - home page

Le-Vel is a health and wellness brand founded by Jason Camper and Paul Gravette. Their focus is on their brand and the offer of “premium products that offer an opportunity to live a premium lifestyle”. Their company bio is interesting in that they outline their cloud based focus to operations in an effort to keep costs down and to premium quality and service.

The company runs at a brand philosophy rather than just focusing on products alone – I.e. they look to turn all of their products into a brand unto themselves. From a MLM point of view, this is something that many programs attempt to do so as to gain advantage for its members. Le-Vel however are one of the few sites that actively promote this strategy which could be of advantage to its product promoters.

What do they Sell?

Le-Vel's range is certainly not as large as many other companies I have looked at however they have a solid range of health and wellness products including:

  • Derma Fusion Technology (DFT) patches
  • Amino acid and energy boosting capsules
  • Protein/low calorie supplements, snacks, bars and gels
  • Energy boosting products
  • Skin care products

Their signature product line is their thrive package. This is an 8-week program where participants utilise their three main product lines each day in order to reach “peak physical & mental levels”. Prices start at $100 for a 4-week supply of:

  • 2 Lifestyle Capsules each day,
  • 1 Lifestyle Shake each day Monday – Thursday,
  • 1 DFT each day (from what I can tell this is an extra cost).

Obviously there is the need to purchase a second round of products for the second 4 weeks of the program which is designed to assist with:

  • Weight Management
  • Cognitive Performance
  • Digestive & Immune Support
  • Healthy Joint Function
  • Lean Muscle Support
  • Calming of General Discomfort
  • Age-Defying & Antioxidant Support

MLM Program outline

The Le-Vel MLM program is known as their Rewards Program where members enroll as Brand Promoters.

Base Commission rate: 20% – down to 4% at level 4.

Down line commission rates: 4% – 8%% to 8 levels (1st generation (down line level 1) rates 4%).

  • NIL for personal retail sales commissions.
  • 100 personal volume (PV) purchase level per month to qualify for commission – approx $200.

Payment terms: Weekly

Application required?: Not sure – applications to join are via your referrer or Le-Vel FaceBook page to request contact by a promoter. This is the same process for customers as well.

Purchase requirements to join:

  • No for personal retail sale commissions
  • Yes for all other commissions and bonuses – 100 PV

Marketing materials provided: Not Stated.

There is a distinct advantage for this program in that you can qualify for up to 20% commission without having to make a purchase at all. This is always a good thing for those new to MLM programs and/or online business development as you can get started with what is almost like an affiliate marketing arrangement. This means that you will not be out-of-pocket in the short term whilst you build a following and start to make sales. That said, the marketing materials for this program do discuss the need to be active on social media outlining your experiences with the product meaning that at least one purchase would be required, even though it is not considered mandatory.

As with most other programs however, minimum purchase requirements are required to qualify for downline commissions which are determined by the total PV that you and those of your down line generate in a calendar month. To qualify for downline commissions within Le-vel, you will need to purchase a minimum 100PV points worth of product monthly – I cannot find any clear identification of what purchase levels are needed to make up to 100PV but from what I can see it is roughly $2 per PV point. Most MLM programs manage it this way so as to ensure that you are getting sales based results rather than simply signing people up whom don't purchase.

How can I get paid?

This program promotes 7 ways in which you can make money when you promote and sell their products. These are quite standard for a MLM program and whilst their commissions are definitely not as high as some others in this market, there is not a lot here that is really different in regards to payment structures. Let's check out payment options for Le-Vel Thrive Promoters:

Auto ship customer

Although not technically part of the promoter program, if you are simply looking to maintain your thrive product intake for free, then you can do so by referring 2 personal Customers onto auto ship programs. For every month that you are an auto ship customer as well as having at least two personally referred people also on auto ship, you will get your product free the next month.

Retail sales commission

Promoters can earn 20% of the BV (Business volume) of their personally referred customers for every retail purchase that they make. They can also earn commissions on the retail sales generated by promoters within their downline to 4 levels as per below:

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - retail commissions

There are no up front or monthly purchase requirements to qualify for these commissions.

Infinity fast start bonuses

Infinitiy Fast Start bonuses are paid for each active new entrant that a promoter can attract into their downline. Bonuses are paid to 4 levels as follows:

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - infinity fast start

To qualify for the fast start bonuses for all new entrants to your downline, you must maintain 100PV purchase levels within that calendar month.

Infinity fast match commissions

Once you have personally introduced at least 2 qualified and active (Q&A) promoters, you are also eligible to earn fast start match commissions. These commissions are paid at 10% of the fast start bonuses earned by your personally introduced downline promoters. I.e. You get fast start bonus on their sales (as above) as well as a 10% commission on the fast start bonus that they have earned.

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - infinity fast start match

To qualify for the fast start match commissions for all new entrants to your downline, you must maintain 100PV purchase levels within that calendar month.

Uni-level team commissions

Uni-level team commissions, the standard structure for almost all MLM programs, are earned on the BV of sales for all downline sales up to 8 levels (referred to as Organisation al Volume, or OV). The difference here to most programs however is that commission rates increase rather than decrease as promoters add numbers to their downline and increase rank.

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - uni level commissions

To qualify for the uni-level commissions, you must maintain 100PV purchase levels within that calendar month as well as rank and leg specific OV levels (see Ranking Structure details below).

Team commissions matching bonus

As with the fast start match commissions, you are able to earn a percentage commission based on the Uni-level payments earned by those you have personally introduced as a Le-Vel promoter. I.e. You get uni-level commissions based on their sales (as above) as well as a 20- 40% commission on their uni-level earnings.

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - uni level match commissions

To qualify for the team commissions matching bonus, you must achieve a rank of 4k VIP or higher, have introduced at least 4 Q & A promoters and maintain 100PV purchase levels within that calendar month.

Go VIP bonus

Should you be working to attract both auto ship customers as well as promoters and are able to do both within your first month of operation, you may qualify for Go VIP Bonuses as below:

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - VIP Bonus

To qualify, you must recruit art least 2 auto ship customers and 2 promoters to upgrade packages (400OV) within your first 14 days as a promoter.

Ranking structure

As you have probably noticed, many of the commissions and bonuses paid out above are reliant upon the ‘rank' that you are assigned within the Le-Vel rewards program. This ranking structure is a little complicated compared to others however possess the usual strategies where personal commissions earned rise based on your total monthly PV/OV, the number of underlings you have within your down line and of course, how much they sell/purchase in a calendar month. Rank requirements are as follows:

Le Vel Thrive MLM Review - rank

One advantage of this program however is the ‘waiting room'. This means that as you introduce someone into your network, they are placed into the waiting room where you can analyse your down line legs and strategically place new members in them based on sales targets/results in each leg. This is a nice little feature where you can maintain strong legs across your downline unlike other programs where new people are auto placed meaning you can end up with poor performing legs – which can reduce commissions due to them being commonly paid on the ‘lesser' leg.

What else do you get?

On top of the potential earning methods outlined above, Le-Vel also offers a couple of bonus plans for those who achieve higher rankings within the program. These include:

VIP Auto Bonus

One you achieve the rank of 12K VIP or higher, you qualify for a bonus monthly car payment. This is triggered once meet the criteria outlined within the image below:

Lifestyle getaways

40K VIP Promoters and above also qualify for luxury trips worldwide.

What is good about it?

So, after a good look around the site and looking at all the options I could find, I do like the following:

  • Information in regards to their MLM program is fairly comprehensive and easy to find.
  • There are a good number of ways to earn commissions.
  • You can earn commissions without a minimum monthly purchase.
  • Great down line management processes.

What is no so good about it?

There are also some things to be aware of including:

  • Commission rates are not as high as many other programs out there.
  • Product pricing is not readily available – a red flag in my eyes.
  • Limited products compared to other programs.
  • Joining as a promoter appears to be not as straight forward as it could be (same for customers).
  • PV calculation appears to be a little higher than other programs – most run at USD$1 per PV or BV point – Le-Vel is around USD$2.

My final thoughts

Look, MLM is not an easy platform to make money in, and in terms of products and processes I think that this one may be a little harder than some of the others I have seen. The whole site actually appears to be geared more towards its MLM program rather than the products themselves. I know they talk a lot about building a brand and not a product as such but, to be honest, if I was a customer trying to purchase these products, I would probably look elsewhere as soon as I tried to purchase.

The reason for this is that when you try and purchase (or, even to actually just see a price), you are asked to login with the details of your referrer. and if you don't have one, you are asked to put a message on their Facebook age to be contacted by a relevant promoter. All this just to see a price would probably drive me a way if I am being truthful (more than happy to be corrected within the comments below if I am not on the right track here).

That said, in terms of the platform and commission structures, this one does not raise any real red flags within the information that I found – in fact, there are a couple of things, such as the ability to earn commissions without minimum purchases and the fast start and team commission matching that is actually quite good. There is plenty of information available abut the program (which trust me, is rarely the case) so if you are passionate about the Le-Vel Thrive program – as I think you would have to be to succeed here – then to be honest I cannot see much in there that would cause me to warn you off.

Reviews

Product and program reviews are mixed based on personal opinion. I get the impression from reading them that many believe the Thrive products to do things that they were never intended to do – I.e. a miracle cure. In Le Vel's defense here they do not make any promises in this manner either. From a marketing point of view however, this is probably just something to be aware of if you were looking to promote these products.

In terms of the MLM program there were a number of reviews citing lack of support and that they don't make you any money. These are common comments for the MLM industry when on average, less than 1% of those joining become rich and less that 10% make enough to survive on. Incidentally, I appear to be the only one that I found that doesn't like the sign up processes.

Conclusion
