Hey there Sea Changers… Recently I have been looking into the world of Multi Level Marketing (a.k.a Network Marketing) to see if there are some online business opportunities there. I noticed in my research just how many programs there are that work with supplements. So, in order to make things a little easier for those of you interested in checking this out, I have created an outline below of MLM Supplements companies that I have found in my travels. Let's check them out below:
What is MLM?
Multi-level marketing (MLM) programs are the mainstay of the ‘party plan' world of products such as Tupperware, Mary Kay and Amway etc. and, recently, becoming more and more prevalent within the Supplements markets. From the outset, I would be remiss if I didn't make it clear here that these are not an easy area to make money in (which is why many look into affiliate marketing as an alternative).
Success is generally experienced by only a small percentage of those who join the programs and it takes time, patience and a lot of hard work. That said, if you have a good network of customers, or are passionate about the world of health and wellness, weight loss, or fitness supplements, then maybe one of the programs below could be worth it for you.
That's right! Wealthy Affiliate provided me with all of the tools and training I needed to get this post in front of my audience - a.k.a YOU!
You too can start your very own online business here that can make you money from anywhere in the world!!
In short, the MLM process works as follows:
- You join the program, either via referral from another person (known as your up line) or directly through their website.
- You promote the products of the company via parties, workshops or online.
- As you make sales, you offer incentives to your customers to sign up as a member of the program (there are different names for this but they all mean the same thing).
- That new member is then placed ‘underneath' you in a hierarchical arrangement (known as your down line).
- You, and a number of levels of your up line, then gain extra commissions for everything they sell as well.
- If they manage to refer their customers into memberships, they also become a member of your down line allowing you to make up line commissions as well.
The number of levels of your up and down lines will vary depending on the program you have joined. Commission rates will also change as your down line grows or contracts and many will also offer other incentives such as total company sales percentages and/or access to membership prizes as you build your business.
How do they calculate commissions?
When it comes to the earning of money via MLM, most programs manage their downline commissions and rankings via the calculation of Personal Volume (PV) points (there are different definitions of this such as Business volume (BV) or Group V9lume (GV) but they all mean the same thing). Most MLM programs manage it this way in that commissions are paid on the points assigned to a product rather than the entire sales total.
For example, if a product retails for $100 and has a 50PV rating (these generally vary from product to product) then the commission is calculated on the $50 purchase only. So if a commission rate for a product is 20% then it will generate a $10 payment to the sponsor (i.e. 20% of the $50 commissionable amount). PV calculations can range from 1 point per $1 up to 1 per $1.50 or even $2. Obviously the closer to the dollar mark the calculation the better. In addition, most programs assign minimum PV sales per month – either personally or via customer sales – in order to qualify for commissions. Payments and rankings are then also calculated based on the total PV of the member, and their downline.
Supplement MLM Companies
Ok, let's have a look (in no particular order)…
First Fitness Nutrition
Based in Texas in the United States, First Fitness Nutrition (FFN) was founded in 1989 by Nigel Branson and Lee Causey – who incidentally is credited on the site as being the inventor of the world’s first diet shake. FFN offers a large range of supplements, weight loss and CBD Oil based products as well as a smaller range of skin and body care creams etc. There is way too much to list them all but here are the basics:
- CBD Rich Hemp Oil
- Weightloss Supplements
- Health and Wellness Supplements
- Herbal Cleansing
- Sports Nutrition
- Body Products
The FFN MLM program calls their members Distributors and from first look, appears to be a fairly stock standard program and commission structure. Their website and processes appear to set it up as a network marketing company first, and a marketplace second. Information in regards to the program, whilst not as comprehensive as others, is available so let's check out the basics:
Base Commission rate: 20 – 40%
Down line commission rates: 6 – 8% to 5 levels (1st generation (down line level 1) rates 6%).
Minimum monthly spend to qualify for commissions
- Distributors are required to maintain $100 Autoship PV or $150 other PV per month.
Payment terms: Weekly and monthly.
Application required?: Yes, personal and payment information at time of first purchase
Purchase requirements to join: Yes
- Membership joining cost $29 which includes a distributor kit
- New members can then also choose a Join pak as follows – the purchase of these paks then determines the amount of commission/discount that can be earned moving forward:
- No Pak purchased – 20% discount/commission
- Business Pak – $279 – 25% discount/commission
- Executive Pak – $549 – 30% discount/commission
- Director Pak – $999 – 40% discount/commission
These paks are not mandatory however many of the bonuses and commissions outlined below are reliant upon ‘encouraging' your newly referred down line members to purchase one at time of enrolment.

Members of the Omnilife MLM program are called distributors and from what I can tell, become part of a program that does not contain anything too outlandish or dissimilar from most other programs. Reliv
Reliv is a United States based company that provides access to a number of health and wellness, CBD Oil and fitness products. The company was founded in 1982 by Robert and Sandy Montgomery with Dr. Theodore Kalogris, who had developed an advanced nutritional formula that forms the basis of their main products. Their mission: “to get our core nutrition products into every home in the world so we Nourish Our World in Body, Mind and Spirit.” As with many programs of this nature, the site is built around its MLM platform with all purchases and processes aimed at the recruitment of distributors. Reliv offers products in three main areas:

- Energy
- Fiber

Fit3 Program The Fit3 Program is a distinct advantage within this site as it allows for the promotion of Reliv products within a real life fitness/weightloss program utilising videos, meal plans and nutrition. The setup is obviously reliant on the purchase of Reliv products however clever Distributors can potentially use this program to build a great mentoring relationship with their customers and down line.
The Reliv MLM program calls their members Independent Distributor's who can take part in a simplistic but standard program. There are some differences within the compensation plan compared to others however in that their initial ranking structure commissions are permanent meaning that once a higher rank is reached, it remains in place for life. Distributors however do not qualify for other usual MLM commissions (such as unilevel commissions) until they reach the higher rank levels.
Discount for members: Up to 40%
Base Commission rate: Up to 40% for personal purchases and sales
Down line commission rates: 2 to 8% to 5 levels – Master Affiliate Rank and above only.

Le Vel Thrive
Le-Vel was founded by Jason Camper and Paul Gravette to offer “premium products that offer an opportunity to live a premium lifestyle”. The company runs at a brand philosophy rather than just focusing on products alone – I.e. they look to turn all of their products into a brand unto themselves.
From a MLM point of view, this is something that many programs attempt to do so as to gain advantage for its members. Le-Vel however are one of the few sites that actively promote this strategy which could be of advantage to its product promoters.
Le-Vel’s range is not as large as many of the other companies listed here however they have a solid range of health and wellness products including:
- Derma Fusion Technology (DFT) patches
- Amino acid and energy boosting capsules
- Protein/low calorie supplements, snacks, bars and gels
- Energy boosting products
- Skin care products
Their signature product line is their thrive package. This is an 8-week program where participants utilise their three main product lines each day in order to reach “peak physical & mental levels”. Prices start at $100 for a 4-week supply of:
- 2 Lifestyle Capsules each day,
- 1 Lifestyle Shake each day Monday – Thursday,
- 1 DFT each day (from what I can tell this is an extra cost).

Base Commission rate: 20% – down to 4% at level 4.
Member discount: Not stated – but free products available if at least two of your down line set up auto shipping.
Down line commission rates: 4% – 8%% to 8 levels (1st generation (down line level 1) rates 4%).
