Hey guys, and welcome back to Make that Sea Change. Today I wanted to run through with you a wordpress plugin that I have come across in my research into email lists. Email lists are a critical element to any online business as they give you the opportunity to directly market to your list with news, offers, discounts and so on. The plugin that I am looking at today is called WP Spin Magic, which in short, is a program that is designed to assist you in building an email list by attracting readers and their contact details with a little ‘spin the wheel' game.
So I guess the thing to check out here two fold:
- Is the product useful?
- Is it worth the purchase price of $17
For this review, I will run you through:
- What it is
- How it works
- Pros and Cons
- My recommendations
Oh, and to quickly answer the questions above….. Is the product useful? … I can see some usefulness there yes…. Is it worth the $17 – I actually think it could be… Let's check it all out…..
What are Email Lists?
You know emails… those annoying electronic letters that clog up your inbox at an alarming rate and cause you grief simply trying to get to them all. Well, you know what? As of 2018 (where the latest data ends), email is still the most effective digital marketing channel there is – outperforming social media, SEO and any form of advertising.
Email lists are the list of contacts that you build in order to be able to directly send them targeted, interest specific information in order to increase website traffic, and of course, sales. The process of building a list is generally as follows:
- Create a call to action – i.e. a popup, or link on your website or social media page asking people to sign up to your email list – this is where WP Spin Magic comes in…
- Entice them with an offer – People will generally not just give you their email address, they will need something in return.
- Send them emails with ongoing offers and information.
There are a few more steps in the middle here (such as double opt in) but in short, that is what you will be doing.
What is WP Spin Magic?
As above, WP Spin Magic is a wordpress plugin designed to attract people you opt in to your email list via their interaction with a ‘spin that wheel' popup on your site. The setup up is quite simple, you create your wheel where each section (or slice) is configured with some sort of promotion or attraction to the reader. These could include:
- % discounts
- Free products/downloads
- Special accesses
- Coupon codes
As the user spins the wheel and wins their prize, they are then required to enter their email address in order to access whatever it is that they have won – Hence the increase in email list opt ins.
What do you get?
Ok, for your $17 you get the plug in where you are able to build your own spin the wheel game. With the base version, you receive the following
- Fully customisable competition builder in terms of colours, number of slices and spin probabilities ratios etc.
- Customisable email templates for prize winners
- Short code allowing for addition to WP pages, popups and elements.

Do I recommend it?
I have to admit that when I first came across this one, my first thought was that it was just a corny gimmick, but the more I looked into it the more I think that it could actually work quite well. I mean, how many of us love a good competition or simply the chance to win something. I can tell you – a lot. So for $17, as long as you were careful with your colours/branding and were able to develop some feasible and effective prizes, then this one may just work.
How does it compare to my #1 Recommendation?
In this case, as this product is a wordpress plugin and not really a training program as such, it would be unfair of me to compare this to my #1 recommended product. Rather, since you will need a website on which to use this program, if you are looking to build yourself a sustainable online business that you own, can make passive income from and can set up a real website for free, then I recommend that you give Wealthy Affiliate a try.
