How Many Affiliate Links Should You Add?
As you will see below, there are a number of methods you can use when adding affiliate links to a website. However, as with many things to do with affiliate marketing, there are a number of different opinions as to how many links you should have.
In general, the answer depends on the type of blog post you are publishing. Reviews will usually have one or two to the product being discussed, whereas listicle type posts (e.g. 5 Best Pellet Smokers etc.) will have a link to each product listed.
At the end of the day, you want enough so that readers can see and click on them, but not too many that the post seems overly salesy.

How to Add Affiliate Links
So with that in mind, here’s how you can add affiliate links to your website:
1. Hyperlink Text
A text hyperlink is a clickable piece of text within a document, web page, or email that directs the user to another location, such as a web page or email address. When clicked, the hyperlink typically opens the linked destination in a browser or relevant application.
To create a text hyperlink:
- Select the text where you want to insert the link.
- Click the hyperlink button (usually looks like a chain link icon) in your website editor.
- Paste your affiliate link into the URL field.
- Save your changes.
E.g. If you were writing about a pellet smoker, you might say “Check out this highly-rated pellet smoker“ which links out to the vendor's website.
2. Call-to-Action Buttons
A call-to-action (CTA) button is a visually distinct, clickable button designed to prompt users to take a specific action, such as signing up, purchasing a product, or learning more about a service.
CTA buttons are commonly used in websites, emails, and digital advertisements to improve user engagement and conversions by making the next step in the user journey clear and compelling.
You will generally have to create your button in an graphics editor or website block editor first. Then you add it to your site by:
- Create a button in your website editor.
- Add the button to your post (you may need to find some instructions to do this within the ‘help' section.
- Link the button to your affiliate URL.
- Label the button with action words like “Buy Now,” “Learn More,” or “Get It Today.”
Below is an example of a CTA button to our pellet smoker link:
3. Affiliate Links on Images
Affiliate links on embedded in images are effective because they leverage visual appeal and natural user behavior to encourage clicks.
Images are also powerful tool in digital content as they draw attention and engage users in ways that text alone often cannot. Here is what to do if you wish to add links to an image:
- Insert an image relevant to the product or service into your post.
- Select the image then click the hyperlink button (usually looks like a chain link icon) in your website editor.
- Paste your affiliate link into the URL field.
- Save your changes.
Hover your mouse over the image below to display the hyperlink:

4. Banners
Affiliate banners are pre-designed advertisements usually provided by merchants or affiliate networks and loaded to your post via HTML code or a snippet. They come in various sizes and formats, such as static images, GIFs, or interactive HTML5 ads, and are designed to attract attention while conveying a marketing message.
Each banner usually includes:
- Visual Content: Product images, promotional messages, or branding.
- Embedded Affiliate Link: A unique tracking link that identifies you as the referring affiliate.
You can place these banners on your blog, website, or other digital platforms to promote the merchant’s product or service by doing the following:.
- Copy the HTML code provided by the affiliate program.
- Paste the code into the HTML section of your website editor.
A common banner look as follows:
