Hey there sea changers, and welcome back to my series of MLM reviews. Today we journey into the very popular and lucrative CBD oil niche with my Green Compass MLM Review. This is a niche that has been booming over the past few years with a large portion of those sales made via network marketing processes. So, what is the Green Compass MLM all about? Let's have a look and see…
What is MLM?
Multi-level marketing (MLM) programs are the traditional mainstay of the ‘party plan' world of products such as Tupperware, Mary Kay and Amway etc. and, of course within the CBD Oil market. And in addition to the popularity of this niche, MLMs have become more popular in recent times – mainly due to the fact that much of the sales and marketing is now being managed online – leading to more modern companies such as this to get in on the action.

You too can start your very own online business here that can make you money from anywhere in the world!!
The ‘multi level' aspects of MLM come from its hierarchical nature in which you make commissions based not only on those that you sell to, but also the sales of those whom you ‘sign' into membership arrangements as well.
In short, the process works as follows:
- You join the program, either via referral from another person (known as your up line) or directly through their website.
- You promote the products of the company via parties, workshops or online.
- As you make sales, you offer incentives to your customers to sign up as a member of the program (there are different names for this but they all mean the same thing).
- That new member is then placed ‘underneath' you in a hierarchical arrangement (known as your down line).
- You, and a number of levels of your up line, then gain extra commissions for everything they sell as well.
- If they manage to refer their customers into memberships, they also become a member of your down line allowing you to make up line commissions as well.
The number of levels of your up and down lines will vary depending on the program you have joined. Commission rates will also change as your down line grows or contracts and many will also offer other incentives such as total company sales percentages and/or access to membership prizes as your own business grows.

MLM program outline
The Green Compass MLM program calls their members ‘Independent Advocates' who are part of what appears to be a simple program with a common retail and downline commission structure and a good number of bonus options included. Their compensation plan is available on their website so here are the basics as I have found them…
Base Commission rate: 20% to 30%
Down line commission rates: 4 – 6% to 5 levels (level 1 down line is 4%)
Minimum monthly spend to qualify for commissions
To qualify for downline commissions, Independent Advocates (IA's) are required to maintain an ‘Active' status via PQV targets of at least 150 per month. This can be made of personal or customer sales. Base 20% sales commissions however can be earned without the need to meet or maintain sales targets.
Payment terms: Monthly.
Application required?: Yes, Application form on website.
Purchase requirements to join: Yes
New IA's have the opportunity to purchase start kits ranging from the basic business kit at $49.95 up to the Core kit at $299.95 or the Core Runner's Kit for $499.95. These include full sized products as well as “all the paperwork you need as well as access to our online training resources”.
Marketing materials provided: As per starter kit above.
Within most MLM programs, rankings and commissions are determined by the total personal qualifying volume (PQV) generated by the IA and their down line within a calendar month with points assigned to each product. These point allocations can range from 50 to 100% of the retail price of each product (before tax and shipping) and vary from item to item and currency of sale.
In the case of the Green Compass MLM program, it appears that PQV is calculated on 100% of the retail purchase price minus discounts, tax and shipping.

How can I get paid?
Ok, so from what I can garner from the compensation plan, there are 10 ways in which IAs can make money when they promote and sell Green Compass items. These are fairly straight forward and split into three phases:
- Marketing Phase – Personal sales
- Team Builder Phase – Commissions on team (downline) sales
- Master Phase – Generational bonuses for nurturing team leaders
The 10 payment options for the Green Compass MLM program are outlined as follows:
1. Personal Retail Sales Commission
This is the first option within the Marketing Phase and comprises the base commissions earned by the general day to day retail sales that IAs can generate via parties, popups, social media or online via their personalized website. There are three tiers of personal commissions based on sale volume as follows:
Note the 20% discount available to advocates as well. No minimum sales targets apply to earn the base 20% commissions.
2. Enhanced Commissions
In addition to Personal Retail Sales Commissions above, Enhanced Commissions are paid to AIs on the total all sales including:
- Preferred Customer Sales
- Personal Retail Sales
- Personal Purchases (on price paid)
These commissions are paid as follows:
Enhanced Commission payments are made in addition to Personal Retails Sales Commissions.
3. Product Credit
AIs who have accumulated and/or maintain a minimum of 5 Personal Preferred Customers in any calendar month, who each have a minimum of $50 in net product purchases, will to earn a $50 Product Credit Bonus.
4. Team Building Bonus
We now move into the Team Builder Phase starting with a common bonus option within many MLM programs where IAs are awarded bonuses for enrollments with starter kit purchases. In this case, these payments are as follows:
- Enroll a new Advocate with an optional CORE Kit and earn a one-time $90 Team Building Bonus, plus an additional $10 Enroller and Level Bonus — totaling $100!
- Enroll a new Advocate with an optional CORE Runners Kit and earn a one-time $150 Team Building Bonus, plus an additional $10 Enroller and Level Bonuses — totaling $160!
NOTE: If a new Advocate enrolls with a Basic Business Kit ($49.95) and chooses the upgrade option within 30 days of enrollment, IAs still qualify for the above bonuses.
5. Team Builder Bonus
Once an IA reaches the rank of Senior Team Leader and above, they qualify for one off bonus payments as below:
6. Enroller Bonus
The Enroller Bonus is paid to IAs as a percentage of the total sales volume of personally sponsored downline members as follows:
7. Level Bonuses
Level Bonuses are Green Compass' version of the traditional unilevel commission structures prevalent within many MLM programs. Within the Green Compass MLM program, commissions are paid to 5 levels based on the rank of the IA as follows:
8. Enroller Check Match Bonus
The rest of the payment options within the Green Compass compensation plan fall into the Master Phase designed to reward those reaching the higher ranks within the program. The first option here is the Enroller Check Match Bonus where IAs are paid a percentage of the total commission payments made to personally enrolled members within their downline as follows:
9. Master Personal Group Bonus
The Master Personal Group Bonus works in the same fashion as above however this percentage is paid against commission payments made to all members if the IAs downline as below:
10. Master Generation Bonuses
Master Generation Bonuses are paid to high ranking IAs who nurture downline members to the rank of Master Director and above in generations as follows:
Ranking structure
Green Compass, as with most MLM programs, uses ranking structures on which to base commission payments and other bonuses upon. Rankings for the Green Compass MLM program are as follows (note personal and team sales qualification targets as well):
Again, as is common with almost all MLM programs, rank progression is determined by both the number of members within the IA's down line, and the total sales made by those members per month. Ranks can rise and fall based on the ability (or dis-ability) to reach the required member and sales targets.
What is good about it?
So, after a good look around the site and looking at all the options I could find, I do like the following:
- Commission rates for entry level sales are good.
- Program is simple and easy to follow.
- Commissions can be earned without the need to meet sales targets
What is no so good about it?
There are also some things to be aware of including:
- There are some joining costs.
How much can you make?
I was unable to locate an income disclosure statement on its website however as with most MLM programs, it has to be assumed from the compensation plan that the percentage of members making the upper rank levels – and hence earning a living – is very low (usually less than 1%).
My final thoughts
Look, MLM is not an easy platform to make money in and there is not much that I have seen here to put this program above the many others I have seen. However, the program is pretty straight forward with common commission arrangements and the ability to make sales online or via the traditional party plan model. I would not call the program a scam so if you are passionate about CBD and Essential Oil based products with a large customer list at your disposal and the ability to generate good sales via online processes, then the 20 – 30% base commission rates might just appeal here.
Once you have joined, there are not the usual financial pressures of needing to make minimum personal purchases in order to qualify for base retail commissions as long as you can make them within your down line. Although from what I can see, I think if you are going to succeed within this MLM program, you may need to have a good array of demonstration stock on hand (20% discounts are available). You may also need to bump up your personal purchase quota if customer sales alone are not enough for you to remain ‘Active' and qualify for commissions and/or discounts within a particular month.
I was unable to locate any negative reviews in terms of non-payment etc. although there were some negative comments about the quality of customer service and the MLM program itself – although it was not really anything that is uncommon in regards to MLM programs or products within this niche.
